Cleaning Methods · 4 min read
It's one of the most common questions we get, and the honest answer surprises people: blasting your vinyl siding with high pressure is usually a mistake.
The risk with high pressure on siding
Vinyl siding is installed in overlapping panels with gaps for expansion. High-pressure water can crack or chip the vinyl, strip the finish, and — worst of all — force water up behind the panels, where it gets trapped and can cause mold, mildew and even rot in the wall behind it. The damage often isn't visible until much later.
The safe method: soft washing
Siding should be cleaned with a soft wash — low pressure plus a cleaning solution that breaks down the green algae and grime at the source. It's gentler on the siding and actually cleans better, because it kills the growth instead of just spraying the surface. It's also what most siding manufacturers recommend. That's exactly how our house washing service works.
How long it stays clean
Because soft washing removes the algae and mildew at the root rather than just rinsing it, a soft-washed home typically stays clean noticeably longer — often a year or more, depending on shade and surroundings — compared to a quick high-pressure rinse.
